Acoustic cover of Old White Lincoln by UK singer Chris Olson Music

One of the newest acoustic covers UK addition, this is my version of Old White Lincoln - originally performed by The Gaslight Anthem.

A great song for any novice acoustic singer in the UK, this track is great for a quick cover as the chords are very simple. I play with a capo on the third fret but you could easily get away with playing it using power chords or open.

From their breakthrough album, The '59 Sound, Old White Lincoln always stood out to me as one of the best tracks on the album. The anthem-like chorus and pulsing bass notes make it such a badass song. It can also be quite difficult to play The Gaslight Anthem songs as acoustic covers if you (like me) cannot be bothered to tune your guitar to god knows what tuning...damn you Brian Fallon! Just kidding, you're great.

I think if you are planning on doing an acoustic cover of Old White Lincoln, there are a ton of ways you could approach it. The song could be slowed down (although I really enjoy the pace), other instruments could make a big impact if you play the harmonica or keys for example, and I think if you are an acoustic duo with nice harmonies, this is a great song to tackle.

Having done a few covers of Gaslight songs, I am now looking to add to my Acoustic Covers UK playlist with other artists. This is not to say I will not revisit the glorious back catalogue that TGA have, I just think you guys will probably get sick of endless covers of their songs (correct me if I'm wrong).

I am also planning on branching out my blog articles on the Acoustic Singer website to include reviews. This may include reviews of albums by bigger artists like The Gaslight Anthem, but I also want to cover more independent artists, in particular those who have acoustic music on Spotify UK.

If you would like to be part of my reviews drop me a message using the contact forms on my website. It would be great to hear from you and I'll be happy to check out singles, E.P's, and full studio albums.

Peace and love,

Chris Olson Music,
