Dirty Summer

Original acoustic song by Chris Olson.

This is one of the few songs I have released that is due to be on my upcoming record, "Building Stampedes".

Dirty Summer is an acoustic song that I wrote about a time in my life when the world seemed full of opportunity - my teenage years. It may seem strange to some, but I loved being a teenager, they were some of my most creative years where I really pushed myself as an artist.

The name of the track, though, derives from what boys do when they have too much time on their idle hands...

You can watch me play, not with myself, but the song live at the end of this page. The recording was taken from my mum's kitchen and I used an olde style filter to make it look super cool, which I'm sure you will agree it is.

Lyrics

Verse 1

I'd walk a thousand miles

To fall down at your feet.

Thinking back to where we started from.

And it's been clear that I've been near

But I could wait another year

To fall down at your feet one more time.

Lying on a bed of nails

Trying to get comfy.

And I can see the sun come up once more.

And it's been rough and I've been tough

Waiting on another touch

To put me back into my place once more.

Chorus

I had another dirty summer in my window

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here

It's been a lonely, lonely, lonely, I don't wanna waste it

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here.

Whoop.

Verse 2

Flying around the world

Buzzing like satellites

And nothing feels forever like you do.

And how can I be satisfied

When all you do is tell me lies

About the person I could never be.

Chorus

I had another dirty summer in my window

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here

It's been a lonely, lonely, lonely, I don't wanna waste it

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here.

Whoop.

Bridge

And why are we just waiting on

Some vision to come save us

And tell us where it was the we went wrong.

And how can I be satisfied

When all you do is tell me lies

About the person I could never be.

I had another dirty summer in my window

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here

It's been a lonely, lonely, lonely, I don't wanna waste it

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here.

Whoop.

Outro

I had another dirty summer in my window

And I can't see a goddamn thing from here.
