All the Time

Original acoustic song by Chris Olson.

Originally a song for The Codes, it was notorious for its awkward intro. Not only was my riff quite out of place, Jed on drums always found it difficult to lead into the verses with a tom fill. If you have a copy of the original you will know what I mean.

The song, All the Time, is about the way in which some people behave and their outlook on life. Kind of a glass half empty or full vibe, for me the song was also about a particular person I was with whom always seemed unimpressed with anything I did. Fair enough, but I have been told by many people that I am "a hoot".

Anyways, the song lyrics are below and you can see a live performance of the song underneath. Please do check it out and share, I am hoping to have some of The Codes songs available on Spotify in the near future.

Lyrics

Verse 1

Walking out the desert, couldn't feel better

I'm alive,

As I walk, as I see, I'm amazed by the things around me,

I know, too well, living in suburban hell,

That's life, cards dealt, did you ever wonder how I felt,

When you, you ran, so far that I can't stand,

No more, I'm sure, we've been here before.

Chorus

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

But I can see an upside,

It's a shame you're stuck with,

And how you tell me all the time,

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

And how you tell me all the time.

Verse 2

Lightning strikes, I'm alright, I could stay here all night,

But you, you say, there's no way you'll stay,

With me right here, as the day gets clearer,

Complainers complaining how the rain's all the same.

Chorus

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

But I can see an upside,

It's a shame you're stuck with,

And how you tell me all the time,

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

But I can see an upside,

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

And how you tell me all the time.

Bridge

We are so star-crossed

There is no love lost

We can't just stop

And just give up

We'll have to stay

To stay away

Outro

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

But I can see an upside,

It's a shame you're stuck with,

And how you tell me all the time,

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

But I can see an upside,

It's a shame you're stuck with me,

And how you tell me all the time.
